Guided tour adapted for people with intellectual disabilities

Itinerary

We keep the explanations brief, and we take architectural barriers into account during the tour. 

• Foru Plaza: an explanation of the location of Gernika and its region.
• The Jai Alai Fronton: after an explanation of how the sport of cesta punta began the participants will be able to handle a basket and ball and at the end they’ll be able to go onto the court to try to throw the ball. 
• The reproduction of Picasso’s “Guernica”, the history of the bombing of the town and a brief explanation of the history of the painting.
• The exterior of the Assembly House:
  • In days gone by, inhabitants of the so-called “Bocineros” or “Horn” mountains would blow on their horns to call the general assemblies And today that’s just what we’re going to do!   
  • We will also emulate the swearing-in of the Lehendakari, reading words spoken by the first Lehendakari, written on a parchment in four languages.
